Finlay Adventure Park Community Day

A Fun-Filled Event by the Waikato River

On a bright and sunny April day, our local Finlay Adventure Park, nestled beside the picturesque Waikato River, opened its gates for a special Community Day event. This event, held during the school holidays, was a delightful opportunity for children to explore and enjoy the various activities the park has to offer.

The park buzzed with excitement as children tried their hands at shooting and archery.  The thrill of hitting targets and mastering new skills brought smiles and laughter all around.

One of the highlights of the day was the exhilarating "magic carpet" ride on the river. Children were thrilled as they glided over the water, feeling the rush of the wind and the splash of the waves. The adventure continued with a visit to a nearby island, where an exciting exercise awaited them, adding an element of mystery and exploration to the day.

Adding to the community spirit, Cambridge Neighbourhood Support (CNS) attended the event along with a local Police Officer.  They engaged with the adults, many of whom were eager to register with CNS so as to be invited to the next community meeting and to receive any Police and Civil Defence alerts for their neighbourhood.

The event was wonderfully hosted by Nicole and Gus Johannes, whose warm hospitality made everyone feel welcome. Their dedication to fostering community spirit was evident, and they expressed their eagerness to host a neighbourhood meeting in the future.

The Finlay Parks' Community Day was a resounding success, offering the children wonderful experiences and giving families the opportunity to benefit from registering with Cambridge Neighbourhood Support.   It was a perfect example of how local initiatives can create lasting memories and strengthen community ties.
