Leamington Mews Connects

Recently, residents of Leamington Mews came together for a Neighbourhood Support meeting — a small but wonderfully engaged group who share a strong commitment to keeping their community safe and connected.

The meeting included discussion around emergency preparedness, with residents initially unsure how they could contribute in a major emergency event. As the conversation unfolded, many came to recognize the value of simply being known to the network — whether they might need help evacuating or could offer support such as a warm blanket or a spare bed to someone in need during a catastrophic event.

Attendees also learned more about the broader work Neighbourhood Support is doing across Cambridge, including:

  • Citizenship projects that help youth understand the positive impact they can have in their local community

  • Subsidized First Aid training to empower residents with life-saving skills

  • Rural outreach meetings to strengthen ties in more remote areas

  • Neighbourhood Connection gatherings that encourage local relationships and resilience

A key message throughout the meeting was the importance of reporting anything suspicious — even small concerns can help keep the neighbourhood safe.

The group was incredibly appreciative of the hospitality shown by the host, and the atmosphere was one of warmth, curiosity, and shared purpose. It’s clear that Leamington Mews is home to residents who care deeply about their community and are eager to stay informed and involved.

If you’re interested in hosting or attending a future Neighbourhood Support meeting, we’d love to hear from you!
