Celebrating Hauora Day at our local Marae

Community wellbeing for Cambridge whanau.

We were thrilled to be invited to attend the recent Hauora Day at our local marae – and what an exceptional event it was! Hauora, meaning health and wellbeing, was truly at the heart of the day, with a wide range of services and information available to the community.

From breast screening and bowel screening to advice on endometriosis, podiatry, and more, the event provided access to healthcare that many people might not normally seek out in their everyday lives. It was inspiring to see so many organisations come together to make health services approachable and accessible for everyone.

The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. A lively stage featured fantastic singing performances, while children enjoyed the bouncy castle and families gathered for prizes and even free massages! The sense of whānau (family) and community was strong, and it was clear that everyone involved wanted this to be a truly positive experience.

We were delighted to answer questions about Neighbourhood Support and share what we do to help keep our community connected and safe. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet people, strengthen relationships, and be part of something that promotes wellbeing for all.

Events like Hauora Day remind us how powerful community can be when we come together. A big thank you to the organisers and everyone who contributed to making this day such a success!
