Community Spirit Shines at Durmast Court Xmas Drinks

Durmast Court residents gathered in December for Christmas drinks, but the evening was about much more than festive cheer. What unfolded was a lively, constructive conversation that showcased the growing strength and unity of this close-knit community.

Vigilance Against Crime

Neighbours discussed practical ways to remain vigilant against crime, sharing observations about suspicious characters in the area and reinforcing the message that Durmast Court is not an easy target. Their collective stance sends a clear signal: criminals will find no welcome here.

Tackling Big Issues Together

The evening wasn’t all about local matters. In true Kiwi fashion, the group also debated national issues -“sorting the rest of the country’s problems,” as one attendee joked - and enjoyed a spirited discussion about the All Blacks.

Building Cohesion

What stood out most was the cohesiveness of the gathering. Frequent communication between neighbours is becoming the norm, with residents increasingly checking in on one another and offering help where needed. This growing network of support is strengthening trust and resilience across Durmast Court and the whole of the Oaklands subdivision.

Backed by Cambridge Neighbourhood Support

This initiative has been nurtured by Cambridge Neighbourhood Support, whose guidance and encouragement have helped residents turn casual chats into meaningful action. Their involvement has fostered a culture of awareness, cooperation, and pride in keeping the community safe.

Durmast Court’s Christmas drinks proved that festive gatherings can be more than social occasions—they can be the foundation of a safer, stronger neighbourhood.
