Ready for Anything — Empowering Bupa Residents to Plan Now, Relax Later

Emergency Planning at Bupa

Bupa residents proved this week that learning about emergency preparedness doesn’t have to be dull or intimidating. In fact, their recent safety session was described as “excellent,” “really thought‑provoking,” and — perhaps most surprisingly — “enjoyable.”

The interactive workshop blended light‑hearted moments with essential, potentially life‑saving lessons. Residents were guided through practical scenarios designed to build confidence and awareness. The room was filled with laughter at times, but also with genuine reflection as participants considered how they might respond in a real emergency.

“It really made me think,” one resident shared. “I enjoyed it, and I feel much more prepared now.”

We would like to acknowledge those who shared personal and sometimes traumatic experiences. Their openness added depth to the session and made the scenarios feel even more real.

The goal was to give residents the space and time to consider whether or not they were prepared for an event and if not to motivate them to take action.  It encouraged participants to think through how they might react in a crisis now, so they have a plan in place before an emergency occurs.

Residents discussed simple strategies that can make a meaningful difference when the unexpected happens. The session explored the need for quick evacuation and encouraged residents to consider what actions they might take if an emergency occurred while they were away from home.

To keep the momentum going, residents were challenged to start assembling a Grab Bag straight away. The first five to complete one would go into a prize draw.  Impressively, one resident returned with their bag just twenty minutes after the session ended!

Emergency preparedness doesn’t have to be complicated — and it certainly doesn’t have to be expensive or stressful. Take a moment now to put a few simple plans in place, start your Grab Bag, and practice your escape plan with your family.  A little preparation today means you can enjoy peace of mind tomorrow.  Plan now, relax later — your future self will thank you.
